Vivus claim that the advantages of avanafil are that it has less side effects

The progress for approval of the fourth Phosphodiesterase Type 5 inhibitor is continuing! A press release from Vivus Incorporated has announced that the second Phase 3 study for their new drug avanafil is starting. The new study which has been named REVIVE-Diabetes is being conducted at a number of different locations using a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled format. The idea is to evaluate the effectiveness and the safety of avanafil specifically for men who suffer from both type one and type two diabetes.

Men who suffer from diabetes have considerably higher rates of erectile dysfunction directly from the diabetic condition and also because of the fact that diabetics are often overweight or obese which is also an indicator for higher rates of erectile dysfunction. It may be that Vivus are positioning and designing their erectile dysfunction medication to be used specifically by men who suffer from diabetes.

Avanafil belongs to the class of drugs which include sildenafil which is Viagra, tadalafil which is Cialis and vardenafil which is Levitra.  Vivus has not yet announced what they will be calling the new erectile dysfunction medication but may have submitted a number of potential names to the FDA for consideration. Drug names have to conform to certain criteria and require approval before they can be used.

Vivus claim that the advantages of using avanafil are that it has less side effects then Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. In particular they claim that the feeling of being blocked up and having a cold which some Viagra users claim they experience is considerably lessened. They also claim that the response time between taking a tablet and experiencing the effect is extremely fast.

Ukmedix News has been following the progress of the avanafil impotence medication since the first tests were announced a number of years ago and are confident that the drug will be on the market soon.
