Recent research suggests that suffering from asthma is an independent risk indicator for the onset of erectile dysfunction. The study also suggests that the likelihood of getting erectile dysfunction increases when the asthma is more severe.

The study which was led by Professor Kun-Ta Chou of the National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan examined medical data of almost 3,500 men between the ages of 18 and 55 years who had newly diagnosed cases of asthma. They compared the data of these men to almost 14,000 similar men who did not suffer from asthma.
By looking at the figures they saw the men who suffered from asthma had a 1.9 times greater likelihood of also suffering from erectile dysfunction compared to those men who did not suffer from asthma. The figures took into account age, comorbidities, and even visits to an urologist. The researchers also noted that the more often that men visited a doctor to be treated for asthma the more likely they were to also suffer from erectile dysfunction.
The researchers did point out however that they could not conclude exactly why there was this connection and also whether treating the asthma would also have a positive effect on erectile function, but commented that further research definitely needs to be done. This research which was published by the highly respected Journal of Sexual Medicine highlights the importance of general overall good health as an indicator of good erectile function.
At Ukmedix News we have seen how practically all aspects of health eventually impact on erectile function. Being overweight, unfit and even not getting enough sleep have all been shown to produce higher rates of erectile dysfunction. We have always argued the best form of Viagra is general good health and that while erectile dysfunction medication is extremely effective if you are suffering from erectile problems the first thing you should do is get healthy!
