Most healthy men will admit that at some point in their lives they have suffered from at least one episode of erectile dysfunction. This happens for a number of reasons and it is important that men realise that it is not actually too serious and that they don’t panic.

For example some men suffer from what is nicknamed ‘Brewer’s Droop’ which is when excessive alcohol consumption causes a lack of sensitivity to the penile area and thus men unable to get an erection. This is something which is temporary and almost always goes away when you sober up. However if you are drinking to the point where you lose erectile function you should seriously consider modifying your drinking habits and think of the Brewer’s Droop as a warning.
The other reason why otherwise healthy men sometimes suffer from erectile dysfunction is to do with anxiety and stress. Men who are very nervous about their sexual performance often get themselves into such a stress that they are unable to relax which is essential for good erectile function. This can happen to men who are with sexually experienced women who they feel will judge them excessively about their sexual performance. This is sometimes called Performance Anxiety.
Other men have been known to be unable to get an erection when they feel excessively guilty about what they are doing. Married men for example who are having an extramarital affair sometimes feel so guilty and wrong about it that they become so tense and uncomfortable that they are unable to perform sexually.
It is important that men realise that to have good erectile function good physical and mental health are both required. Being relaxed and physically healthy can be more effective in producing good erectile function than the erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.
