Watch Out For Fake Online Reviews, Especially For Hair Loss Products

over 40 percent of internet users could be misled by fake online reviews

A recent survey shows how gullible many online shoppers are and how they tend to be unaware that many reviews of products online are not genuine and are in fact written by people trying to promote their own products. The survey commissioned by the shopping website Reevoo.com suggest that over 40 percent of internet users could be misled by fake online reviews for a whole range of items including hair loss remedies.

Watch Out For Fake Online Reviews, Especially For Hair Loss Products

The survey showed that many shoppers were taken in by many cosmetic products including diet medications, hair loss preventing shampoos, anti aging lotions and even laser hair removal kits. According to this survey the majority of people who fall for fake reviews online tend to be the oldest generation whereas younger people are more internet savvy and therefore aware of the way that unscrupulous operators promote their products.

Ukmedix News is particularly aware of fake online reviews because we get bombarded with them every single day not only on the Ukmedix forums but also on the comments section of each individual news article. For example every time we upload genuine hair loss research from respected medical establishments around the world, hundreds of comments appear vouching for some obscure product which more often than not has never been subjected to any clinical testing and is normally a hyped up snake oil. For this reason all the comments have to be screened and any comment which tries to promote a hair loss product or otherwise is blocked.

When Ukmedix News writes about any hair loss remedies we are either writing about existing prescription medication approved by the medical authorities in the United Kingdom such as Propecia, or we are letting you know about research from respected Universities or other serious research organisations around the world.

You should use a little bit of common sense when reading online reviews. If it is too obviously over the top or it is written like a sales pitch the chances are it is fake. Never rely on one review of any product and ultimately if it is hair loss medication you are going for, you should always get the advice of a doctor rather than an anonymous online review.
