Dealing with the psychology of male pattern hair loss can be extremely complicated and distressing for some men. There are a number of different ways that men get over their hair loss problem some of which are destructive and some of which are proactive and positive.

One of the most common ways that men deal with the first signs of male pattern baldness is to go into denial mode. Instead of confirming that the problem exists they ignore mirrors and just pretend that their hair is perfectly all right. This is worrying because men who have a big problem with losing their hair often follow this pattern of denial and they are the ones who should be getting help.
The sooner that you deal with male pattern baldness the more likely you are to be successful in stopping it. Medications such as the Propecia hair loss drug are far more effective if they are used at the onset of male pattern baldness as opposed to when it is much more advanced.
The best psychological approach to take with male pattern baldness is acceptance of the problem. Some men, [usually older men] just see male pattern baldness as a natural sign of aging and nothing really to worry about. They accept the fact that one day they will be completely bald and it doesn’t fill them with dread. Other men, [usually younger men] face the problem by getting professional medical help, doing things like cutting their hair short so that the hair loss is not so apparent, going to the gym and getting fit and healthy, [to improve overall appearance] and generally are proactive about dealing with the problem rather than denying that it exists.
There is a lot that can be done to deal with male pattern baldness. You don’t have to resort to wearing a wig or going for a comb over haircut but you must deal with the problem today rather than leaving it before it is too advanced.
