A new hair restoration device that is all over the world news at present and has received the green light approval from the Food and Drug Administration in America had us all sitting up in our chairs at Ukmedix News. It is called the Hairmax Laser-Comb and has been given the OK to be used by males who suffer from male pattern balding or as it is known clinically, androgenic alopecia. It works like this; you literally comb your hair 3 times weekly for say 15 minutes with the laser in the comb on and the idea is that the laser energy that comes out of the comb will stimulate hair growth in your scalp.

The company is hopeful that the treatment will be popular because it is so simple to use and it doesn't require a prescription or a visit to a doctor. A study done by the manufacturers of the device claims that over 90% of men experienced thicker hair growth after using it over 6 months. Hmmm, we are a little skeptical of the claim at Ukmedix News and we prefer independent testing for objectivity when evaluating the efficacy of all types of treatment but there does seem to be some sort of value in the Hair Max Laser Comb.
It is however very unlikely to be a better treatment than Propecia the hair loss drug from Merck and the reason is simple. Propecia gets to the bottom of the hair loss problem by blocking the formation of the DHT that kills hair follicles whereas the Hair Max Laser Comb only stimulates growth but doesn't remove the problem that is creating the hair loss in the first place. The FDA approval for the Laser Comb is at present restricted to men as the testing was only done on them but in the near future it is probably to be tested and approved for female use too.
At Ukmedix News we still feel that the Jury is out on this treatment but We'll keep you up to date on any new news regarding the Hair Max Laser Comb.
