Women Suffer More From Hair Loss

While men undoubtedly suffer from the psychological effects of losing their hair, women suffer far more if they start to go bald. According to Dr Collins from the Monash University women who start to lose their hair alter their behaviour considerably as a result.

For example some women whose hair starts to get thin will change the layout of mirrors in their houses so that they never see themselves as the sight of the hair loss causes them much mental distress. Other things that women do include making sure that when they are walking along with a bunch of friends they will always go to the rear of the group so that the others cannot look at the back of their head and see their thinning hair. Some women even make sure that when they go out to eat they get to the restaurant table first so that they sit with their back to the wall and see that there are no strong lights on their head to highlight their hair loss problem.
It must be extremely stressful and troublesome to live with the psychological effects of hair loss and when women lose their hair they are not actually sick but the stress and anxiety that comes with it may cause them to suffer from depression which is an illness in itself. Like some men, some women handle her loss in a much better way than other women.
Women who place a great deal of emphasis on their appearance will suffer far more than other women who do not. It is important that if you start to suffer from hair loss that you go and get help for it as quickly as possible and do not just imagine that it will go away on its own. Hair loss is much easier to treat when it is at the early stages rather than when it is more advanced and this applies for both men and women.
