Ukmedix News has previously reported that in Taiwan research done on over 700 men shows that men are at more risk of losing their hair if they smoke, and now another study has come to light which confirms their findings. The new study looked at both men and women and carefully examined the effects that smoking had on hair loss and also premature greying. The researchers said that they were careful to account for other variables could that could affect hair loss but nevertheless they found a “significant and consistent” connection between smoking cigarettes and damage to hair follicles.

Doctors and scientists tend to focus on the fact that smoking can aggravate a list of illnesses such as cardio disease, lung cancer, high blood pressure and the effect on the hair has been overlooked. Because hair loss is so visible and many men and women worry about it this could be a bigger incentive for them to quit smoking. The new research was published in a report of the British Medical Journal and over 600 men and women half of whom were smokers were examined.
What is clear that smoking does have an effect on hair loss and premature greying hair but scientists are not 100 percent sure whether the reason that this occurs is due to the tobacco toxins harming the scalp or whether it is because smoking in itself hurrys up the process of aging. In any case whatever the reason if you are concerned about hair loss and you are smoking you are doing the wrong thing and you should quit now!
Smoking in itself is already damaging to the skin and people who smoke a lot tend to look older than people who do not smoke. If you want to appear your age or younger you should really quit sooner rather than later.
