The first thing you should really consider and look at for healthy and strong hair is a healthy scalp. The most common scalp problem is the existence of dandruff. As well as being irritating and itchy, dandruff covers your clothes (especially black ones) in white specks and makes you look unwashed and unhealthy. Nobody should live with dandruff as it can be quicken hair loss and it can be treated easily.
Most cases of dandruff are simple to manage and all you need to do is shampoo your hair with certain anti-dandruff shampoos that can be found in all pharmacies. You do not require a doctors visit or a prescription and usually washing one a day will cure the scalp of any dandruff problem. If your scalp is still producing dandruff despite using these shampoos then a stronger medicated shampoo may be the answer.
The thing to consider is also the cause of the dandruff in the first place. Basically dandruff is caused by an airborne fungus that irritates the scalp and so it can really be completely treated but there is much you can do to minimise the likleihood of you getting it on a regular basis.
Firstly research has shown that stress and anxiety can trigger scalp problems and make it more complicated for you to get rid of the existing dandruff, so try and relax and de-stress at the start and at the finish of the day. The importance of diet can't be underestimated. An unhealthy diet which doesn't include fresh fruit and veg as well as the right balance of protein and wholegrains may make you and your hair look unhealthy.
Trichologists also recommend a little sunlight daily on the scalp but not too much as you will end up harming your hair and scalp with too much sun.
The most important snippet of advice is to keep your hair and scalp clean by washing and shampooing daily. People with oily scalps need to shampoo more often than other people. Hair care products other than shampoos can do more harm than good so leave out the sprays and gels.
