Watch Out For Hair Loss Myths

Male Pattern Balding is a genetic disease...

Every now and then at Ukmedix News we feel it is necessary to remind our readers that certain things that are said about male pattern hair loss are completely untrue and what just a bunch of old wives tales. For example people still persist with the myth that whether or not you will suffer from Male Pattern Balding is dependent on whether your maternal grandfather also suffered from the condition. This is just the lead of rubbish as can be shown from many cases where two brothers have completely different hair thicknesses with one of them being completely bald and other with a full head of hair. It is not even statistically more likely for you to go bald if you have a bald maternal grandfather then if you have a maternal grandfather with a full head of hair.

Another myth that we come across quite a bit at Ukmedix News is that you can go bald by wearing a hat for long periods of time. Again there’s no proof of this and no scientific reason for it to happen. We also come across writers who claim that your diet can have a big effect on whether you suffer from Male Pattern Baldness but again your diet is unlikely to be the cause of losing your hair especially if you are a man. If you were to eat a really unhealthy diet for long period of time your hair may start to become a little bit thin however you would probably look so ill and frail at this point that your hair loss would be the least of your problems and it wouldn’t really be your diet causing the hair loss but simply the fact that you were so badly nourished.

It is important to remember at all times that Male Pattern Balding is a genetic disease and therefore is very rarely affected by things like washing your hair, eating special foods, or massaging your head.  There are remedies to help with Male Pattern Baldness but they will only work is they can counteract the dihydrotestosterone that forms on the scalp as a result of a genetic process.

The hair loss drug Propecia is the most effective drug for stopping the effects of Male Pattern Baldness and can be issued for men with this problem provided they have a prescription from a doctor.
