The Hair Loss Future

The future for men and women who suffer from hair loss seems bright. Research is being done on genetic ways to modify the mechanism that causes hair loss in the first place and the results on certain animals have been good. Scientists are confident that within say a decade men will simply take a drug or get an injection that will ‘switch off’ the hair loss process for good. If things go as planned and the research shows that the genetic treatment is safe and effective, it may be as routine as going to have your hair cut.

The Hair Loss Future

The other type of hair loss treatment that is making leaps and bounds is hair transplant surgery. Whereas before it would be very obvious who had had a hair transplant these days it can be very difficult if not impossible to tell especially if your surgeon is good at what he does.

Ten years ago the common method of inserting the hair into the scalp was by using plugs of hair in the same way that the hair on a dolls head is fixed. Each plug would have say 10 hairs and this while covering your hair with hair would be obviously unnatural and not real. This sort of bad surgery would in some cases highlight the fact that you suffered from hair loss more than if you had just stayed bald.

These days surgeons have become very good at transplanting individual hairs onto your head and they even go as far as to make sure that they insert the hairs facing the right way so that they will grow the right way. The hairs can be taken from the side of your head and if done carefully there will be no visible scarring in the top or on the side of your head.

Many famous actors are now opting for hair loss surgery with Nicholas Cage being one famous example. There are possibly some actors today that we just don’t know about because their hair loss surgery is so professional.
