Some estimates place the figures for hair loss at close to forty million and twenty million, for men and women respectively in America and investors are aware of the lucrative potential of hair regrowing formulas and treatments.
One new treatment that is still being tested and looked at is called the electro-static hair chair that works by sending electro magnetic pulses into your scalp to stimulate under performing hair follicles and to boost their growth. It has been used on people who have suffered from cancer and required chemotherapy which causes hair loss. It is a simple procedure that takes a quarter of an hour each week, it doesn't cause pain and it is like going to the hairdresser and sitting under a hair dryer. It is not a mainstream hair loss procedure at present and the FDA have yet to approve it.
Investment is also being channelled into the Hairmax Lasercomb. This treatment is a completely DIY hair loss remedy and is technically known as laser light hair therapy. The laser is designed to stimulate weak hair follicles in the same way as an elecromagnetic pulse and needs to be used for say a quarter of an hour, 3 times weekly for maximum hair growth effect.
While the FDA has given the green light to Hairmax Lasercomb as a beneficial treatment to get healthier and stronger hair, it has not given the OK for the Lasercomb to be used as a hair growth remedy untill further proof of its efficacy can be provided.
The FDA requires extensive testing and proof before hair growth claims can be made on the packaging and advertising of hair restoring products. At present the FDA only has Propecia and Minoxidil as legally approved hair loss remedies, that are actually allowed to make hair restoration claims.
Minoxidil is normally massaged into the scalp in the morning and evening for best results to boost hair growth and is said to work better the eartlier the treatment is applied and the treatment does not work for all people, though some people have said that the hair loss slowed down with its use. Some people find that their scalp gets irritated by the minoxil and they cant continue to use it.
Propecia also has an FDA OK and is taken in the form of one small pill daily. It prevents the build up of the hair destroying DHT in the scalp and has a better number of happy users. It has a few side effects like minoxidil and requires a prescription and a consultation with a doctor. Propecia is very easy to use and doesn't require time consuming massaging.
On the internet there are many other hair loss procedures available that promise instant results. These must be avoided as they are almost all hype and can in some cases be dangerous. There is a lot of money in hair loss treatments and since ther has not been a definite remedy found for all types of hair loss the new treatments and investments will continue.
