If you are beginning to go bald take heart from the fact that the AAD, (The American Academy Of Dermatologists) say that nearly 2/3rds of males in the US will get some form of hair loss in their lives. Hair loss is estimated to hit forty percent of men in their forties and this figure rises with age. The statistics show that over eight percent of males with Alopecia had fathers with that same problem. The lucky men retain their hair all their lives but they always get sime slight thinning with age. Millions have been poured into research but only a few certified remedies exist to stop hair loss of male pattern balding. MPB is referred to medically as androgenetic alopecia. This is genetic hair loss.
In MPB the hairline starts to recede and men notice alot of hair in the shower after use. Also men notice that combingcauses lots more hair on the comb than usual. Sometime hair on the crown of the scalp thins and forms a bald patch. Hair that you lose should grow back, but the increase of the amounts of hormone 5[alpha] reductase turns the male testosterone into dihydrotestosterone or DHT as it is commonly known. DHT makes the hair follicles weaker before killing them. It has been known for years that eunuchs do not lose their hair, due to the absence of testosterone.
A recent reserach project said that males with MPB had much less blood circulation in the scalp. The blood is essential for good hair growth. Another study linked hair loss to excessive amounts of sebum on the scalp that may be due to poor diet. Your hair loss genes may be recieved from you mothers side of the family as well as your fathers. Dandruff is another hair loss causer as well as shampoo that have toxic compounds. Also smoking and stress have also been found to accelerate the DHT compound forming.
Hair loss can cause great stress and emotional suffering. Younger people talk of lack of confidence and self-esteem. Men will do alot to get their hair growing back. Some take drugs like propecia or minoxidil which have proven results and other have hair transplants which can be very costly. Minoxidil and Finasteride (Propecia) can have a few small side effects and may be expensive in the long term.
