Flawed Survey Shows Men Worry About Dandruff More Than Hair Loss

Even though men when questioned directly claim not to really give a damn about the way they look and especially their hair, they are as conscious of it (if not more) than women are. Many men who are experiencing male pattern baldness shrug their shoulders and laugh about it but the reality is that it is often devastating and even life changing.

A study done recently in New Zealand called the Head & Shoulders Hair Retain Survey recently examined the attitudes of men to their hair. The results showed that 29 percent were concerned about dandruff but only 26 percent were worried about male pattern baldness. These results confirm what we just stated in the first paragraph of this article.
How crazy as it that men are more concerned about dandruff which can easily be sorted out with a few applications of shampoo than they are concerned about hair loss which is let’s face it changes your appearance drastically and cannot be sorted out with shampoo! The results of this survey cannot be taken seriously as they have failed to take into account the huge ego that men have which means that they cannot appear to be visibly worried about male pattern baldness.
The survey which also questioned men about whether they were concerned about weight gain recorded that almost 2/3 of them were so. Again while losing weight can be difficult it is much easier than regrowing hair on your head and you do have some sort of control over it.
Despite this survey you only need to use common sense and look at some of the comments on the Ukmedix Forum which allows men to talk openly and anonymously about hair loss to know that the number one concern for millions of men is genetic male pattern baldness which do not have 100% foolproof remedies like dandruff and weight gain have.
There are however some things you can do to beat male pattern baldness which do have a good chance of success in at least slowing or completely stopping the progression of the condition. Statistically the most successful remedy available is the use of the medication Propecia which prevents the buildup of dihydrotestosterone in the scalp which is the root cause of hair follicles falling out.
