A word of warning to women, [and maybe some men too] is that a product called Brazilian Blowout which is designed to straighten curly hair contains a large amount of formaldehyde which could be responsible for reports of hair loss in some women.

The warning which originates from the medical health authorities in Canada, (Health Canada) contains information that Brazilian Blowout has 12% of formaldehyde which is much higher than the legally permitted amount. Health Canada said that individuals and hair salons should not use this product especially as formaldehyde can cause burning to the skin and repeated exposure at high levels has been linked to cancer.
Ukmedix News would advise both men and women to be extremely cautious when it comes to the use of hair care products especially if they are to be used over a long period of time. Women suffer from much lower rates of hair loss compared to men, but this does not mean that they can be reckless with their hair. Women do start to suffer from thinning hair as they get older and therefore they should make a special effort to look after it.
Excessive use of chemicals can weaken hair follicles as can continued pulling and tugging of hair. Women who take care of their hair when they are young are more likely to have thicker hair when they are older.
Unlike men who can make use of the hair loss medication Propecia, there are very few remedies to treat female hair loss other than common sense hair care and minoxidil. Men who start to use the hair loss drug Propecia immediately on noticing male pattern baldness have much higher rate of success than those men who dont do anything about it until it becomes noticeable.
