Eli Lilly, who manufacture the erectile dysfunction drug Cialis has announced that it is trying to get approval from the American FDA to allow the drug to be prescribed for men suffering from enlarged prostates. This new approach has been described as a clever bit of product differentiation and marketing which could help Cialis to continue in its quest to beat Viagra as being the number one erectile dysfunction medication worldwide.

An enlarged prostate or Benign prostatic hyperplasia to give it its proper medical name is pretty common in men over the age of 50. By being able to get prescriptions for Cialis for any man who has BPH would make this drug extremely popular because it obviously has some spectacular side effects! Eli Lilly is arguing that the use of Cialis treats the symptoms of Benign prostatic hyperplasia and has presented a mass of clinical evidence to the FDA to back this up.
One of the biggest problems that the marketing men of all erectile dysfunction drugs have is getting men to admit that they have sexual problems and to talk about it with a doctor. If a man could get a prescription for Cialis by just saying that he was suffering from BPH rather than having to actually talk about his lack of erectile function it would make Cialis extremely popular.
Eli Lilly have already made Cialis extremely popular by enabling it to be taken in a new form as Cialis Daily. Because Cialis Daily is taken every morning as opposed to just before having sex, there is some evidence to show that it allows men be in denial about their sexual problems. Instead of having to fumble around with tablets when an opportunity for sex present itself, many men who take Cialis Daily see it as an extra supplement to take with their vitamin pills.
Eli Lilly hopes to get positive feedback from the FDA regarding its new Cialis application by the end of 2011.
