Evidence that China is fast becoming one of the biggest consumers of branded drugs has been shown by sales of the erectile dysfunction medication Cialis. The figures released by Eli Lilly & Co show that they sold twice as many Cialis tablets in 2010 when compared to the figures for 2009.

The biggest challenge for western drug companies that have been trying to promote real branded erectile dysfunction medications in China is that there are loads of cheap copies on the market made locally. Nevertheless Mr. Chen Jialin the vice president of Eli Lilly in China said that the company had invested heavily in enlarging its retail distribution network around the country and was building a good reputation in hospitals and pharmacies.
The other thing which western branded erectile dysfunction drug manufacturers are trying to capitalize on is the superior quality of their products compared to locally manufactured impotence pills. They have not had much luck in getting the poorer Chinese men to buy their products because they are much more expensive but real Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are now perceived in wealthy Chinese social circles as a luxury item.
Cialis is different from Viagra and Levitra in that it works for 36 hours compared to only 4 hours for the others. Eli Lilly have capitalized on this differentiation in their product in order to set itself aside from its rivals and having even developed a new version called Cialis Daily. Men who use Cialis Daily say that they are able to maintain good erectile function at all times and this allows them to have spontaneous sexual activity as opposed to having to plan ahead.
There is a real danger that using cheap erectile dysfunction drugs which can be purchased on street corners without a prescription or a medical consultation will cause health complications. In secretive China many drug manufacturer scandals are hushed up but occasionally a few of the stories leak out and we have published quite a few of them at Ukmedix News.
