Quitting the next day after a heavy night out is also a big mistake

If you are planning to quit smoking at midnight on New Year's Eve we would like to give you a little bit of advice! Firstly quitting at midnight is not a good idea if you are partying. What you will probably do is smoke like crazy in the last hour before midnight and you are likely to be drinking too which means that you are probably not thinking 100% straight.

when should you quit on nye...

Quitting smoking is probably the most important thing you can do to improve your life so don't start your quit smoking attempt under the influence of alcohol. You wouldn't start a new job under the influence of alcohol so don't start quitting smoking when you've had a few drinks. What many people do is say they are going to quit smoking at midnight and then they announce that they are really going to quit the next day when they wake up!

Quitting the next day after a heavy night out is also a big mistake. Smokers crave cigarettes when they have hangovers and the worst time to exercise self control is when you are feeling depressed and despondent which is normal on New Year's Day. So, if you are having a big night out on New Year's Eve don't quit on New Year's Day but leave it for the 2nd of January.

Never forget that quitting smoking is the most important thing you can do to improve your life and therefore you should not leave anything to chance. Avoiding social activities for a few days could also help you with your quit smoking attempt and when you do start partying again make sure you don't drink too much.  If you are struggling to fight the urge to smoke at a party just leave! Visualize lying in a hospital bed with an oxygen tank next to you and your loved ones crying as your life slips away.

Make 2012 the year you quit smoking for good! Good luck!
