A new clinical trial shows that using Champix for a longer period before quitting smoking could improve the overall likelihood of success. The study showed that 53 percent of volunteers who used Champix for four weeks before they started to quit were still smoke-free three months afterwards compared to only 40 percent of those volunteers who used Champix for just one week before they started to quit. It was also noted that 2/3 of the women who took the doses of Champix for four weeks prior to quitting were still smoke-free three months later.

The study which was done by scientists from the University at Buffalo Roswell Park Cancer Institute among others was published by the clinical journal Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and could lead to changes in the recommendations for the use of Champix. At present Champix is normally prescribed for one week before your quit smoking date.
Professor Larry W. Hawk, who led this study explained that if this research was put into practice it could have a huge impact on reducing rates of smoking. He said that these findings would have to be confirmed in larger clinical trials before they could be put into use. Professor Hawk said that it may be possible to show in the future that by taking Champix earlier you could improve the already considerable quit smoking rates that the drug provides.
If you are somebody who has tried to quit smoking many times but failed you might find that Champix could work for you because it has been shown to massively reduce the smoking cravings that smoking addicts suffer so badly from.
Champix is a prescription medication available in the UK which can be prescribed after an online consultation with a doctor at the Ukmedix web site. Ukmedix News is not recommending that you take Champix for any longer than you have been prescribed for and you should always follow the exact recommendations of your doctor.
