If you are quitting smoking in 2012 don't forget to focus on the huge financial impact that binning the habit will have on your life. One survey done by the UK Department of Health shows that 50 percent of smokers significantly underestimate how much they will save when they do not smoke.

For example if you are a twenty a day smoker you should expect to save around £2,400 annually purely from not having to buy cigarettes. This does not take into account any life insurance premiums that you might be paying which could lead to further savings. You should contact your life insurance company and ask them about reductions in premiums for being smoke free. They will probably require you to prove that you have been smoke free for a number of months before they agree to reduce your premiums.
You should actually sit down and write a list of all the savings that you are making and you will probably find that you have been given a considerable 'pay rise'! Put this extra money that you are saving aside so that you can see it accumulating. The bigger that this pot of money becomes the bigger that the incentive for you to stay smoke free will be. Decide what you are going to do with the money; buy a car or go on the holiday of a lifetime! Surely this is better than smoking!
Probably the biggest financial and quality of life benefits of quitting smoking are the secondary ones which come about as a result of your increased productivity at work and at home. You are likely to experience much increased energy levels which could lead to your boss giving you a promotion or you wanting to do more fun activities with your wife and children.
don't procrastinate and don't give up giving up! Make 2012 a year in which you made a positive impact on your finances, your health and your quality of life!
