Do you really need that cigarette? Or do you just think you need it when in fact all you need is a break? The truth is that nobody ever really needs a cigarette but they just think they do. Smokers who are thinking about quitting should try and challenge their own beliefs about needing to smoke and try and be objective about what they are actually feeling and experiencing when they get cravings for a cigarette.

It might sound simplistic and even stupid but just remembering and confirming to yourself whenever you get cigarette cravings that you do not actually need that cigarette but instead you are making a conscious effort to choose to have that cigarette could have a big impact on helping you to quit.
If you are somebody who has tried to quit many times using a variety of different carefully thought out methods such as nicotine replacement therapy, regular exercise or staying in and avoiding alcohol maybe you should instead be challenging the assumption that smoking is actually difficult to give up.
We know it sounds crazy because so many people say that quitting smoking was the hardest thing they ever did but instead of trying to beat smoking by challenging it head on, why not step aside take a few deep breaths and just remember that you do not actually need a cigarette... you just think you do!
People need food, water and air for a variety of different reasons in order to live and survive, but to try and put cigarettes in the same category is just plain stupid because they are nothing more than hot air full of toxins.
When you say you need a cigarette maybe all you need is in fact a short break and time to think about something, organize your life or just wind down. Why is it that smokers have managed to convince themselves that they actually need a cigarette?
Challenge your belief system surrounding cigarettes and it could make the difference.
