Have you ever observed somebody going through the psychological machinations of quitting smoking? Maybe if somebody close to you has had a hard time dealing with their nicotine addiction you'll know what we mean.

For example, having quit for a couple of weeks they will announce that anyway they don't really want to quit and that they were perfectly happy as a smoker. They will argue that they don't need to smoke but they don't see why they can't just have the odd one now and again. They might even say the after all not smoking is making them put on weight and that is very dangerous for their health.
Whatever form it takes, at some point heavily addicted smokers trying to quit will start to talk complete and utter bullshit. [Excuse our language.] What makes the bullshit even more fascinating is that you see normally intelligent and rational individuals suddenly start talking as if they were completely stupid and had the IQ of a chimpanzee.
They say things like, "well who wants to live till they're really old anyway", or "it's all about the quality of your life not the quantity of it". Well try and tell that to somebody suffering from emphysema who's unable to walk around the block or play with their children and grandchildren. Not only will you have absolutely no quality of life if you get a smoking related illnesses such as lung cancer or heart disease but you will be a huge burden on the people around who love you.
What's the best way to deal with somebody who is wavering in their quit smoking attempt and who starts to talk bullshit? Some people say that you should try and reason with them logically and have long discussions about the pros and cons of smoking. At Ukmedix News we reckon that you should kill the argument pretty fast by just saying "lung cancer, heart attack and stroke" and you should say it wheezing and spluttering as if you are suffering from emphysema.
