Just walk, or even better run! Addiction and smoking cessation experts have spoken at length about how avoiding 'triggers' is a good way to quit smoking. Hundreds of people we have seen at Ukmedix News talk about how they can quit smoking for a few days but then when they are faced with certain situations like an alcoholic drink or a smoking friend coming around for a coffee they just can't cope and immediately they throw logic out the window and light up.

Sometimes people have quit for months or even years when a certain situation occurs which produces a very strong urge to light a cigarette. In fact one time heavy smokers will probably find that they will think of cigarettes at certain instances for the rest of their lives.
If you have invested time and effort into quitting smoking you must make sure that you are aware of these triggers and have strategies to deal with them. Do not try and deal with them head on because the liklihood is you will fail. The best way to deal with smoking triggers is to avoid them completely.
Do your best not to hang out with your smoking friends until you have conquered your addiction. Stay off the booze and avoid bars and clubs where smoking is allowed and instead go to healthy places where smokers are ostracized.
If you are in a situation where you just can't control the urge to light up our advice from Ukmedix News is just to get up and walk. It is really that simple! Just get up and walk home or round the block a few times and focus on the reasons why you binned smoking in the first place. Visualize your healthy future and the positive aspects of quitting smoking as well as the health and financial consequences of continuing to smoke.
You might find that the best smoking cessation tools you have are your legs, so get up and use them!
