Check out the following facts about smoking! They might help you to quit.

Firstly you should know that over 100,000 people die from smoking in the United Kingdom every year because of their smoking habit. This figure could be giving only a small idea of the problem because some experts reckon that smoking causes far more deaths indirectly. For example if somebody has quit smoking previously and then dies of heart disease his death might not go on these smoking related deaths statistics. The harmful effects of smoking can stay with you for many years after you quit.
More than 2/3 of smokers in the United Kingdom claim that they want to quit. This shows that the addictive nature of cigarettes is strong and that they are simply unable to kick the habit. Many people want to quit because they know that smoking is having a detrimental effect on their health. They feel unhealthy, lethargic and they know that they could be setting themselves up for a serious illness.
Over 90 percent of people who suffer from lung cancer are smokers and the disease is extremely painful and causes thousands of deaths every year. The majority of people suffering from heart disease are also smokers and the disease completely destroys any quality of life.
These people who suffer from heart disease or lung cancer obviously have huge regrets about the day that they first lit up a cigarette but because they have become so addicted to the habit they just can’t quit. Despite that they know the lung cancer or heart disease is killing them they sometimes continue to smoke, showing that they value their smoking habit more highly than their lives.
You must quit now if you want to stop yourself becoming one of these people. If you continue to smoke for many years it will end up ruling your life and killing you. The longer you leave it the more difficult it will get.
