Senator Wants To Ban Electric Cigarettes

even President Obama has made use of electronic cigarettes

A big row has broken out in Washington after a Senator tried to get electric cigarettes banned in the Senate. These electric or electronic cigarettes which we have written about previously at Ukmedix News look exactly the same as normal cigarettes but don't contain any tobacco. Instead of smoke a water vapour is inhaled which has a little bit of nicotine in it.

senator wants to ban electric cigarettes

The electronic cigarettes look so realistic and the water vapour which is inhaled and exhaled looks exactly like tobacco smoke that people using them have often been asked to put them out immediately by misinformed members of the public. For people who are heavily addicted to smoking using electronic cigarettes can make life easier for them and give them a nicotine rush which they miss after they decide to quit.

One of the other advantages of using electronic cigarettes is that they provide a bit of psychological release to people who have quit as they have something to do with their hands when they are extremely nervous and stressed about not being able to light up a normal cigarette.

In America however Senator Frank Lautenberg is having none of it and said that they must be banned until they have been tested by the Food & Drug Administration.  He argues that there is no evidence that they have been proven to be safe.  On the other hand there is no evidence to prove that there is anything wrong with them and since they only contain water vapour and nicotine they are unlikely to be more dangerous than smoking a cigarette.

At Ukmedix News our advice to people trying to smoke and who wish to try electric cigarettes is that they must not see them as an alternative to smoking but merely a way of making the jump from smoker to non-smoker easier. You should set yourself a target that you will only use the electronic cigarettes for a couple of weeks until you quit completely.

Rumour has it that even President Obama has made use of electronic cigarettes on more than one occasion.

Oh Dear! Is this Senator in the pay of Big Pharma? It looks as if their new 'brainchild' to create even more money has failed. Leave the nicotine to the experts. I would never trust Big Pharma with its use.

What NEVER gets reported is Lautenberg's very close relationship to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, including approving gov't
grants to the organization, which was created by Johnson & Johnson, which makes BILLIONS from sales of it's own nicotine products,
including it's version of a nicotine inhaler, and, which has paid out over $ 440 MILLION to fund anti-smoking around the world to
achieve those sales. NOW all that money is being very seriously threatened by Chinese Electronic Cigarettes that J&J does not profit
from. Gee, if I were Lautenburg, RWJF and J&J, and all those who profit from their pockets, I'd want E-cigs immediately removed from
the U.S. and global markets too.

Again the claim they have not been tested. They have been tested and tests are still ongoing. Until the pharmaceutical and tobacco dollars behind this sort of press and political action is exposed we won't get to the truth and the bottom of this situation.

Steve and Jason thank you for bringing this to the surface, it makes me mad and sick to think that money is being put before the welfare of the individual...I use the electronic cigarette and find it really helps me.

I also use the electronic cigarette and find it helps me, it does get me into trouble in indoor public places though. I suppose we could start trying not to use it indoor and ultimately not to use it at all...... this is the end game is it not?

I have been using different Electronic Cigarettes now for about 3 months and often get pulled up by people who have no idea what they are and dirty looks even from people. I wish someone had tried a campaign of sorts to inform people a bit more about them. But it works for me and my wife and I have given up smoking for good now so its worth the hassle.

Its a crime against humanity to ask that electric cigarettes be banned. Just try and convince us that you are really concerned about our health....

When in reality hes just a very vindictive non-smoker with a self righteous attitude. No wonder hes a politician.

BTW - I love my ecig - just try to pry it from my hands.
That would be a joke...they are already making their own models and brewing up e-liquids at home. You can try but you cant take them away...

My husband and I also have used the e-cig along with our friends. I simply cannot believe that they would try to ban these while turning a blind eye towards the real killer (tobacco)!!! I see this as a FAR SAFER alternative. Not to mention the fact that you choose how much nicotene you want to inhale. We are already breathing easier thanks to the e-cig. Shame on anyone who stands in the way.
