an amazing holiday, a new car, a new bathroom

First we gave you the advice that by quitting smoking you could pay off your mortgage early and today the advice is that by quitting smoking you could get yourself a new car! It sounds simple and obvious that by quitting smoking you’ll save money yet so many smokers fail to visualise the financial benefits of quitting which can provide a huge motivation to continue with their smoking cessation attempt.

Quit Smoking And Buy A Car

When you quit smoking you should actually set aside the money you save and put it in a safe place so that you can see it mounting up every day. Take into account not only the fact that you are saving money by not buying cigarettes but also work out what you are saving on your life insurance premiums too.

There must be something that you want to such as an amazing holiday, a new car, a new bathroom or possibly a new collection of clothes. When you quit smoking you must think about these things every single day and whenever you are faced with temptation you should visualise the non-smoking rewards.

One research project that we saw at Ukmedix News showed that by giving people financial incentives to quit smoking they are far more likely to stay off cigarettes in the long term. It is however important that people appreciate the long term financial benefits of quitting and don’t just see smoking as a few pounds a day which then make any difference.

Karen Swainston Thomas from Burnley understands the financial benefits of quitting smoking after she saved over £3,000 and splashed out on a new car. The continued savings from not smoking will pay off the remainder of the balance owing on the car meaning that in one sense by quitting smoking she has been given a ‘free’ car.

Is your smoking habit really worth that much to you? Do the maths and work it out for yourself!

I used to smoke three packets daily and was always short of cash. I have now stopped and I save the money I would have spent and spend it on a holiday each year as a reward. It is really worth it..at least it has been to me healthwise and financially.
