Pfizer, who manufacture the smoking cessation medication Champix have been investing in programs along with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Health to try and lower the amount of smokers in this part of the world.

The United Arab Emirates has what has been described as an epidemic of smoking and this is taking a huge toll on the health of its citizens. Pfizer has teamed up with the government organisers of smoking cessation initiatives and has been offering advice and training to counsellors who will be advising smokers how to quit the habit once and for all.
Pfizer which is the world’s largest drug company will also be providing their smoking cessation medication Champix which can be used by individuals to reduce the cravings associated with giving up nicotine. Unlike many smoking cessation therapies, Champix is not a nicotine replacement drug but is a sophisticated medication which acts on brain receptors which control addiction.
Independent research done with Champix has shown that it produces better results for smoking cessation than nicotine replacement therapy. Other researchers claim that using Champix can increase the chances of a successful quitting attempt by four times if you take it for twelve weeks. The United Arab Emirates have setup special smoking cessation clinics in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain which will be stocking the Champix drug and providing advice and counselling to anyone who turns up.
It is important that the smoking problem in the United Arab Emirates is dealt with before smoking related illnesses start to put a huge financial and productivity burden on the country. Recently the United Arab Emirates introduced bans on smoking in public places which has sent out a clear signal of the determination of the government to prevent its citizens from smoking and to improve the health of the nation.
