Menthol Cigarettes Could Be Worse Than Regular Cigarettes

Written by Jamie Stowe| Monday, 29 November 2010| There are 5 comments

addicted smokers spend a lot of time talking bullshit about why they smoke

One of the most common smoking myths is that somehow puffing away on menthol flavoured cigarettes is less harmful than regular brand cigarettes. The medicinal perception that menthol has leads smokers to think that they are being 'healthy' by smoking them. Well we have some bad news at Ukmedix News for menthol smokers because recent research done shows that those people who use them suffer from much stronger addictions than those who smoke ordinary cigarettes.

The research which was published by the medical journal Addiction also showed that black Americans, unemployed people, and those with a lower level of education were much more likely to smoke menthols. They were also deemed to be popular among women.

This information has not gone unnoticed by the Food & Drug Administration who have commissioned a special review on menthol cigarettes from the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee. The review which is destined to be ready by Spring 2012 should be utilized to remove the common misconceptions surrounding menthol cigarettes and possibly even argue for their ban in the same way the flavoured cigarettes were banned previously.

Some people have even argued that menthol cigarettes are much more dangerous than regular cigarettes because the menthol opens up the airways and therefore allows more toxic chemicals to enter into the body.

People delude themselves in all sorts of different ways when they become addicted to smoking. The idea that menthol cigarettes are less dangerous is another way that normally sensible individuals trick themselves into dealing with the fact that they have a chronic addiction and they can't give up despite the obvious health dangers and the reduction in quality of life that smoking brings on.

The reason there are so many myths surrounding cigarette smoke is that addicted smokers spend a lot of time talking complete bullshit about why they smoke, when they're going to give up and anything else that they can dream up to prevent themselves facing the fact that they have a serious problem which will probably kill them.

I find this article to be offensive with your choice of words..using the term bull**** in an article that can be read by many is a blatant violation of conduct..especially for a 'news' article. That, and the fact that the author obviously is of foreign disposition with his bad english in the first paragraph..please 'Jamie'!

Please, the topic isn't about how well the writer wrote the article. Pay attention and stop being so sensitive. I appreciate the hard truth since that's what it takes to control an addiction. Don't be such a bitch about it
