President Barack Obama may have finally quit his smoking habit for good. Even though he has cut down considerably and only smokes the occasional cigarette it was common knowledge that when he was running for president he would still light up in stressful situations despite the fact that he had made a promise to his wife Michelle to give up for her full support on the presidential trail.

The good news however is that according Mr. Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary President Obama has seen the light and finally nailed his 30 year-old habit. According to Mr. Gibbs he has not seen the President smoke or come across any evidence of smoking over the last nine months. He went on to say that the President is exercising six days a week and making a special effort with his diet.
Mr. Gibb said that he believed President Obama had been able to quit because he had a good support system, because his wife gave him a lot of encouragement and also because people around him like his golfing friends had also quit too. President Obama also makes use of chewing gum when he feels the urge to smoke.
If you are the President of the United States you have a very big responsibility to quit smoking. You can't go round preaching about trying to reduce health care budgets if you are setting a bad example by indulging in the number one preventable cause of illness and death. In the same way that parents need to set a good example to their children by quitting smoking, the President of the United States and all people in high positions of responsibility need to walk their talk.
In view of the fact that President Obama is also head of all the American Armed Forces he should be in peak physical fitness at all times. The President of America needs to lead with his actions as well as his words.
