we hope that Speck Mellencamp gets the required 1,000,000 members

The son of John Mellencamp, Speck Mellencamp is determined to get his father to quit smoking and has made a bet with him that if he gets a million people to join a Facebook group called “1,000,000 to join, my dad John Mellencamp will quit smoking” then his dad will promise to bite the bullet and throw away the cigarettes for good. Well so far so good, as he has 110,000 members but obviously he needs a lot more before he can speak to his dad with the good news. John Mellencamp is no light smoker with a habit which was once four packets a day and is now down to a couple (of packets.)

Facebook To Get John Mellencamp To Quit Smoking

Well, at Ukmedix News we hope that Speck Mellencamp gets the required 1,000,000 members but at the same time we reckon that John should be quitting anyway and that trying to pass the buck to Facebook is a cop out. John has to understand that if he continues smoking the way he does he is unlikely to live much more of a healthy life and that he will probably end up dying a slow and painful death. He should also consider that he is causing his family concern and worry with his smoking habit so why doesn’t he just bite the bullet and quit right now.

In fact a little bit of advice that we can give to John is that he should set up a Facebook Group to monitor his quitting attempt. People will be able to post tips and give him encouragement which will increase his chances of success. Ukmedix News has seen other instances of people who have used Facebook to quit smoking utilising the power of peer pressure and social networks.

One thing is for sure John, dying and early death from a smoking related disease as you family cry their eyes out just isn’t Rock ‘n’ Roll.
