The time to quit is right now

If you're a person who thinks that you can quit smoking when you want to easily you need to read about this new research which shows the one in three people who has actually suffered from a heart attack actually continues to smoke when they leave hospital. The study shows that despite a dance with death and clear evidence that their smoking habit is likely to kill them people are still unable to quit.

dancing with death and still smoking

The research which was put forward by the American Cardiology College highlights the addictive power of cigarettes and shows that some people need more than a warning and a bit of encouragement to quit.  Continuing to smoke after heart attack massively increases the chances of you getting another heart attack pretty soon.

Some people who smoke often say that they will quit in the future and that they're just enjoying the habit when they are young but many of these people end up developing a chronic addiction which no amount of will power can beat. Being a casual smoker could end up turning into a regular smoking habit which could end up killing you.

The younger that you are when you quit smoking the easier it is to do. If you are still smoking in your thirties you are massively increasing the risk of suffering from a smoking related disease and also increasing the chances of never being able to quit.

The time to quit is right now. No excuses about putting on weight or not being able to deal with the stress of not smoking because the stress of a heart attack, lung cancer or another smoking related disease will be far greater.

Medications such as the smoking cessation drug Champix have shown to be effective in helping people quit smoking.  Doctors also recommend counselling to deal with the psychological aspects of quitting smoking and also healthy eating to help deal with the physical side of quitting.

don't leave it until it's too late!

I agree with Troy, we certainly ARE fooling ourselves if we think we are above being affected by smoking. It is a good thing to show the reality of the consequences of smoking.
