An enterprising professor at the University of Massachusetts has come up with a new and interesting idea for his students, particularly those who are thinking of quitting smoking. The idea is that Professor Wilmore Webley will be giving lectures on the science and the art of giving up smoking and these lectures followed by an exam and various papers will earn the students credits which will go towards their final degree.

Professor Webley who has never smoked said that he learned a lot about addiction and smoking when he ran a smoking cessation seminar called the Quit Smoking Support Group at the university. He has come up with whole list of different strategies to quit smoking for individual students who have different lifestyles and habits. Professor Webley said that he had many years of experience in helping people give up bad habits and he said it was essential to look at every case independently and not to make general sweeping statements about smoking addiction.
At Ukmedix News we have seen that people have different levels of physical addiction and different levels of psychological addiction. Some people when they give up smoking say that the physical cravings are the worst and once these are over they have no problem. Other people say that the psychological triggers are the things that make them want to smoke much more, such as having an alcoholic drink or a cup of coffee.
At Ukmedix News we reckon that this was one of the best ideas to help people quit smoking that we had ever come across. It is also clever because it is aimed at students who are often smokers and who need to be educated about the evils of smoking and how addictive it can become before they get seriously ill. Maybe if these smoking cessation credits were included in every UK university degree the number of smokers would fall drastically.
