Another thing which is known to reduce the craving for smoking is exercise

There are a number of ways which you can make quitting smoking easier and one of the most helpful things to do is to concentrate on what you eat for the first few weeks of quitting. Scientists have shown that certain foods can trigger you to crave a cigarette and other foods can actually remove those cravings completely.

Eat Right When You Quit

You must be aware of your own smoking triggers. The obvious ones are alcohol and coffee which have a very strong association with smoking. People talk about having a break and going for a coffee and a cigarette, or beer and cigarette and you will find that if you are used to having a cigarette with your coffee it will be difficult to have a coffee on its own.

Scientists have also shown that coffee and alcohol can actually improve the enjoyment and taste of the cigarettes and make you want to smoke more. They also noted that things like water, fruit, vegetables and milk all made cigarettes taste much worse. If you plan your diet carefully you could end up eating much more healthily when you quit smoking than you were before. It has been observed that people who smoke rarely drink water with their cigarettes and prefer to go for coffee or alcoholic drinks. Drinking a lot of water will help to purify your body and improve your skin.

Another thing which is known to greatly reduce the craving for smoking is exercise. If by the end of the day you are really craving a cigarette go for a run!  If you are not the running type of person go for a long walk instead and maybe finish up by having a sauna. Plan the first few weeks of quitting smoking so that you do not end up in situations which would make it extremely difficult for you not to light up.
