In Pulp Fiction that they looked pretty damn cool

It is essential to pick a good time to quit smoking. It is no good trying to quit just before party where all your friends will be smoking and you need to think of a time where you can be away from any smoking triggers or stressful situations that could make you want to light up.

Ukmedix News has heard that the movie star Samuel Jackson failed in one of his attempts to quit smoking partly because he was in the process of making a film in which he was supposed to be a heavy smoker. This meant that he always had to light up cigarettes for the sake of the artistic accuracy of his character and obviously the temptation to carry on puffing away behind the scenes was just too great.

The film was called Resurrecting The Champ and he played a homeless man who is constantly picking up cigarette butts from wherever he can find and lighting them up. Samuel Jackson is apparently however now a non-smoker after having spent a lot of money going to doctors and smoking cessation experts who helped him quit the habit.

It sends a very important message to young people when actors like Samuel Jackson quit smoking. He is a role model of ‘cool’, and if he gives up he is likely to influence other people. There is no doubt that when Samuel Jackson and his co actor John Travolta lit up in the famous movie Pulp Fiction that they looked pretty damn cool. However I don’t think they would feel cool when a doctor explained to them that they had lung cancer or maybe just erectile dysfunction as a result of their smoking.

We have written about this before at Ukmedix News and we feel very strongly about it too. We reckon that it is important that high profile actors set an example by not smoking and also that major movie production companies limit the amount of smoking in the films so as not to encourage impressionable young people to start smoking when they see their favorite actors and actresses doing so.

It is important to promote the message that smoking is not fashionable or cool and the best way to do this is through the media and using role models.
