and they enjoy life to the fullest...

Okay, so you know the obvious reasons why you should give up smoking. Health issues such as lung cancer, emphysema and heart attacks are obvious but there are many secondary issues that smoking can deal with to improve your quality of life.

Other Reasons To Quit Smoking

For example did you know that people who smoke are four times more likely to go blind in old age than people who don’t? A particular medical condition called age-related macular degeneration is the main reason why old people sometimes start to lose their sight. Researchers and scientists don’t know much about what causes it but they have seen that smokers are far more likely to suffer from it. The researchers also saw that those people who gave up smoking before they reached old age were only slightly more at risk of suffering from the condition than those people who had never smoked at all, showing that it really is never too late to give up.

Another study that we have seen at Ukmedix News which involved over 9,000 men and women over the age of 65 saw that smokers had a rate of mental decline which was up to five times faster when compared to those people who did not smoke. Smoking could mean that you spend your final years as a confused bumbling wreck.

Smoking has also been seen to increase the likelihood of you suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Research that was done in Sweden shows that people who are “genetically vulnerable” to rheumatoid arthritis and who smoke are almost sixteen times more probable to suffer from the condition compared to those who did not smoke.

The last reason to quit which many people overlook when they write about smoking is that you will just feel so much better. People who quit smoking get up in the morning feeling good about themselves and actually feel much healthier. They have more energy, they run up the stairs and they enjoy life to the fullest.

It’s never too late to quit. Take that first step and take it now before it's too late!
