There are approximately a quarter of a million less smokers in New York City now

If you reckon that the new all out smoking ban this is to be introduced in the UK on 1st July will not be a deterrent to smokers you should consider the statistics that are coming out of New York which implemented a ban on smoking in public places in the year 2002.

New York

For example the statistics that were compiled by New York City health officials show that in 2002 the city had almost twenty percent more smokers than it did in the year 2006. The report authors said this means that there are approximately a quarter of a million less smokers in New York City now and this has potentially saved 80,000 lives as 1/3 of all smokers die from a smoking related illnesses.

Interestingly the statistics also showed that the group of people who stopped smoking the most were those between the years of 18 to 24 and this is probably because it was easier for them to quit as they were not so addicted as people who had been smoking for decades.

At Ukmedix News we are looking forward to the smoking ban in the United Kingdom because we think that it will have a hugely beneficial health effect for the whole nation. Smoking is not only the cause of hundreds of preventable diseases but is also a major cause of impotence and obesity in the United Kingdom, two problems that we report extensively on.

If you are smoking and you want to quit, now is your chance. There will be thousands of other people like you trying to give up at the same time who will there to give you help and encouragement. If you are a very hardened smoker and you feel that you will be unable to quit smoking on your own possibly you should speak to a doctor about getting the smoking cessation drug Champix that is made by Pfizer.

Pfizer claim that Champix is the most effective smoking cessation drug on the market today and that this is the borne out by independent testing.
