Today is the day! If you are thinking about giving up smoking you should possibly take heart from the fact that today is the World’s Official No Tobacco Day, an initiative organised by the World Health Organisation. The statistics relating to health problems and death from smoking are staggering and all over the world thousands of individuals die every day from smoking related illnesses. For example it is reckoned that in India 90 people die every single hour from the effects of tobacco or smoking.

World No Tobacco Day Is Today

Tobacco is not just the problem for the person smoking but also has a negative effect on the people who work and live in the vicinity of smokers. Numerous reports have shown that passive smoking is not something to be underestimated and that is why Pfizer the maker of the smoking cessation drug Champix are pushing for smoking bans in public places all over the world.  Champix is a drug that works on the brain receptors that control the desire for cigarettes and is not just simply a nicotine replacement therapy.

It is estimated that tobacco contains as much as 4,000 individual harmful chemicals some of which are known to cause cancer. Smoking also clogs up the arteries causing artherosclerosis which can in turn increase the likelihood of heart attacks, strokes and other blood circulation problems. Not everyone knows that the majority of erectile dysfunction in men is caused by blood circulation problems and it is a well documented fact that males who smoke are much more probable to suffer from impotence than men who don’t.

Research that we have seen at Ukmedix News also shows that even within a few weeks a man can boost his erectile function by giving up smoking if the damage he has done to his arteries is not too severe. Think about it and take a positive step to improve your health and quit the habit. You’ll save money and you could also save your life!
