The super model Jodie Kidd has lent her name and image to an anti-smoking campaign which involves smokers wearing special commitment rings as an outward sign of their intention to break their smoking habit. At Ukmedix News we reckon that the smoking rings are really just a bit of a gimmick but sometimes silly gimmicks can be of use.

Cynics will say that quitting smoking is not about wearing a commitment ring but about getting down to it and controlling your cravings, however on the other side of the argument people say that the ring will be a constant reminder to people giving up that they have made a solemn promise to quit the habit and it will also be noted by other people who will then be able to encourage and support them when they might be tempted to smoke.
Jodie Kidd who is now 30 decided to quit the habit last year, but she said it wasn’t easy. In fact it was her third attempt at quitting the habit and she has been a non-smoker for about a year now. She said that smoking stops her playing sport properly and she hated feeling unfit and unhealthy. People who give up smoking always say that they feel so much better without the cigarettes and that their quality of life improves. Jodie Kidd also said that not smoking means that her clothes and her hair don’t stink all the time of second hand cigarette smoke and she even claims that her skin looks healthier and brighter now.
At Ukmedix News we are trying to encourage all of our readers to quit smoking before the July 1st smoking ban comes out in the United Kingdom. It will be much easier to quit the habit in the UK now as all public places will be smoke free. At Ukmedix you can get a free online consultation and free advice about quitting smoking and if the Ukmedix doctors feel that it can help you they may prescribe the new smoking cessation drug Champix made by Pfizer.
