The Federal Aviation Administration which regulates pilots as well as air traffic controllers in America has issued a statement banning them from taking the smoking cessation medication Champix. This may sound very serious however pilots and air traffic controllers are banned from taking a whole list of medications which can cause any loss of concentration or sleepiness.

There have been a lot of reports about the side effects of Champix in the media and at Ukmedix News we make a point to tell you all the news about the effects of medications sold on the Ukmedix web site. There have been a number of cases of people suffering from blurred vision, mood swings and psychiatric problems and it is important that people are made aware of these incidents. Nevertheless the Food & Drug Administration which has been monitoring the drug still feels that the positive benefits of Champix far outweigh the side effects.
If you have a job which could be hazardous if you are not 100 percent focused you should be wary of using Champix. You should also be aware that smoking cessation on its own can cause stress and anxiety which may lead to reduced concentration in the short term.
What should also be remembered by anyone taking Champix is that the side effects of continuing to smoke are hugely greater than using Champix. Champix does not cause heart disease, lung cancer, high blood pressure and a whole plethora of other diseases and illnesses.
At Ukmedix News we think it is quite right that people who have hundreds of lives in their hands should not be allowed to take any medication which has a side effect which could reduce operational effectiveness, and therefore the decision taken by the FAA is responsible and correct.
In America Pfizer have sold over £125 million of Champix in just the first three months of 2008 and over £400 million of Champix in 2007.
