How does Acomplia work?

When we eat, smoke or drink, a sort of "reward substances" increases, causing a feeling of well-being. These substances stick to certain receptors in our brain, called CB1's. These feelings of well-being makes us keep on smoking, eating and drinking. If we are able to block the CB1 receptors the feeling of well-being will not occur. This is exactly what Acomplia does, it blocks the CB1 receptors in our brain, making it less enjoyable to eat, drink and smoke!

Acomplia works not only in the brain but also blocks the CB1 receptors in the rest of our body. These receptors are placed also mainly in fat tissues. When they are blocked the intake of fat into the muscles and the liver are reduced. Our body also becomes more sensitive to the insulin level causing the blood sugar level to go down.

In the beginning of the study 53% of all the participants where diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, meaning they had high levels of blood fat (triglycerides), high blood pressure, high levels of blood glucose (sugar) and a waistline greater than 35-40 inches. After one year of treatment with the drug only half of these patients were still diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome.
