Tests So far

1507 patients in the USA and six European countries took part in a 2 year study (The RIO-Europe study). The results of the first year of tests was presented at the European Heart and Thorax Surgery Conference (September 2004 in Munich).

For those patients who received 20 milligrams of Acomplia per day during a year, weight loss was on average 8.6 Kilos. Those patients receiving only 5 milligrams of Acomplia managed a weight-loss of 4.8 kilos and the patients who received just a pacebo lost in average 3.6 kilos of weight. The patients who took Acomplia significantly reduced their blood sugar and blood fats, both factors which are well known for causing of Cardio-Vascular diseases, and poor health in general.

Another study which was performed in Sweden showed that of the approx. 100 patients who took part, had similar effects with Acomplia.

- "The drug is very effective, and for being a drug that works by affecting the brain it is very benign. After one year of treatment we saw only a few cases of nausea, but no increase in depression or anxiety." says professor Lars Sjostrom at the Shalgrenska Institute in Gothenburg, who was in charge of the Swedish study.
