The drug Acomplia has been available in the UK for a number of weeks now and Sanofi Aventis are forging ahead with the plans to launch the drug for sale in as many European nations as possible. The drug is still being evaluated by the FDA in the United States but Sanofi Aventis are sure that the issues and tests will be resolved soon and the drug may be on sale in America early next year or even by the end of 2006. Some analysts think that the company Sanofi Aventis is too optimistic in its forecast as to when the FDA will give the final approval for the weight loss drug and that Acomplia may not be released for general sale until the middle of 2007.

Sanofi Aventis have recently announced that Acomplia will be selling in Germany before the end of the summer month of August and a number of other European countries will follow suit.

The diet drug Acomplia has been sold in the UK from the finish of the month of June and Sanofi Aventis say that doctors are recieving the drug well and that it is having a beneficial impact on the patients who are using it. After the drug is launched in Germany Sanofi Aventis say they will be launching the Acomplia drug in about 6 other European countries by the end of 2006 and will continue to launch the drug throughout 2007.

The big sales however will come from the United States which has the world's worst obesity problem and a large bank balance to match making it the most lucrative weight loss market in the world. Sanofi Aventis intends to distribute millions of dollars in the United States promoting the drug and hope to get serious returns on the dollars that they invested in research and development for the weight loss drug.
