The weight loss drug Acomplia has been in the UK news recently as it is being claimed by a Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin in the United Kingdom that while the Acomplia drug is effective for weight loss it is not properly proven that the medicine can have an affect on metabolic factors.

The makers of Acomplia, Sanofi Aventis claim that not only does Acomplia help you to lose weight by working as an appetite suppressant but that it can actually lower levels of dangerous cholesterol, sugar and fat in the bloodstream over and above than what would be expected normally by a weight loss diet. Sanofi Aventis are very keen to push this aspect of the Acomplia medication so that it can be given to people who have diabetes and other metabolic problems.
Sanofi Aventis say that in all the clinical tests that they conducted they noted a significant difference in the blood sugar levels of individuals taking the Acomplia drug which could not just be attributed to weight loss. They say this difference was consistent and seen in all of the clinical trials. Nevertheless the Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin claim that the drug company Sanofi Aventis could not categorically and definitely prove that this difference in blood sugar levels was purely down to the Acomplia drug and not because of the fact that the participants were losing weight and eating less anyway. Sanofi Aventis say that they are in the process of conducting more tests with Acomplia and say that they are sure that the results will back up their claims.
At Ukmedix News it is not within our competence to tell you whether the Acomplia drug does actually work to control metabolic factors however we will be following the new Sanofi Aventis research and any other research that is done with the Acomplia drug and will give you the news whether it is good or bad. In the meantime rest assured that Acomplia is a very effective weight loss medication that is presently helping thousands of people in the United Kingdom to lose weight.
