Some good news for the makers of the new diet medication Acomplia namely Sanofi Aventis is that the Food & Drug Administration has set a date for the official review of the diet drug. On the 13th of June 2007 the final verdict of whether Acomplia will get full approval from the American health authorities will be known. Previously the FDA had said that they would be reviewing Acomplia on the 27th of July but presently have brought the date back following a request from Sanofi Aventis. The FDA have been asking for more information about Acomplia for the last year after they were concerned that some people may become depressed when using the diet drug.

Thousands of men and women in America are pinning their hopes to lose weight on Acomplia and we know at Ukmedix News that there is a huge demand for the weight loss medication there. Acomplia has been fully available in the UK since June 2006 and has been very positively received by doctors and hospitals all over the country. Many European countries are also allowing the sale of this new and very effective diet medication provided that a prescription is issued from a doctor. Acomplia is an appetite suppressant and works not to by affecting the stomach but by working on receptors in the brain that control hunger urges and the desire to eat.
Sanofi Aventis have invested millions of pounds in developing and researching this new weight loss drug and while sales are very good in Europe the biggest market for obesity drugs in the world is without a doubt America. It is estimated that in a few years time 40 percent of all American people will be obese, meaning they have a Body Mass Index of 30 or more.
