Last week Ukmedix News noted that The European Medicines Agency (EMEA) had decided to look again at the clinical testing data regarding any possible psychiatric problems that may be caused by the use of the Acomplia weight loss drug that is made by the drug company Sanofi Aventis. We can now report that the Committee for Medicine Products for Human Use or CHMP for short which is a subdivision of the EMEA said that they will release more information about their review on July 19th this year following a three day meeting.

The EMEA has been extremely open about its decision to review the psychiatric information and said that it was purely to do with the news that the United States Food & Drug Administration had decided not to recommend marketing approval because of an apparent dangerous side effect.
At this point all we can say at Ukmedix News is that we are glad that the review process for the Acomplia diet drug in Europe is going to be done extremely quickly so that people using the novel diet pill can put their minds at rest that they have nothing to worry about. In the accompanying literature of the Acomplia weight loss drug it warns people who suffer from depression that the Acomplia drug could aggravate the condition in some cases. It is always extremely important to know what the side effects of all of the medicines that you take are. If you do decide to take the Acomplia weight loss drug you should be aware that in a very small percentage of people depression does occur and therefore if you start to feel depressed you can immediately stop taking it.
In light of the FDA’s decision in America it is unlikely that the American people will get the drug Acomplia for at least two years now and further testing will be required before its release over there. Acomplia has won approval for sale in thirty seven countries around the world including the United Kingdom and has been on sale here for over a year now.
