It looks like Sanofi-Aventis, the manufacturer of the weight loss drug Acomplia may be changing it name to Celnec? The company has been busy over the last few months registering the name Celnec at the United States Patent and Trademark Organization as well as being busy online by buying up over ninety Celnec internet domain names. Internbet addresses such as acomplia-celnec.com or celnec-diet-pill.com have been grabbed by the company. The comany even has registered, for those who need information about side effects, CelnecSideEffects.com.
Celnec is now being registered with the Patent office as a drug for preventing cardiovascular disease, as an obesity remedy and also as a stop smoking drug. Acomplia or Celnec as it may now be called is likely to be a blockbuster weight loss drug if all FDA tests are met and final approval is given. It looks like the drug will not be approved as a smoking cessation drug despite the original hopes of Sanofi-Aventis. The approval of the name patent may take a few months and is subject to regulatory procedures.
The obesity problem in Europe and the United States continues to grow and billions of dollars are being put forward for research into obesity research programs. Sanofi Aventis is hoping that Acomplia will soon be approved and begin to return some of the research costs and make big profits.
