The weight loss drug Acomplia which is made by Sanofi Aventis is due for full approval by the Food & Drug Administration of America sometime in June. This decision on whether or not to license for sale this new diet drug will have huge impacts on the future of the medication. Not only is the whole of the United States weight loss market to be opened by a positive decision but worldwide acceptance of the medication as a useful weight loss tool will be far greater if the Food & Drug Administration gives it the green light.

The drug Acomplia has already been licensed for sale in most European countries and the United Kingdom was the first nation of the EU to allow sale of the medication. Sanofi Aventis are happy with the sales of the drug in Europe but the weight loss drug market here is minuscule compared to the weight loss drug market in the United States. A negative decision from the Food & Drug Administration could possibly impact on the sales of the drug in Europe as people may feel insecure about using the medication if they know that the drug was not given the approval for sale in America.
America takes the lead in many things worldwide and the Food & Drug Administration over there is extremely well respected. America has the most litigation in any country of the world when it comes to the using of drugs and so the FDA must make sure that there are absolutely no dangerous side effects that could cause themselves or the drug company Sanofi Aventis to be sued. At Ukmedix News we are confident that the FDA will give the go ahead to the diet drug Acomplia and that it will soon start to sell in America.
